The Noise in the Mountain

There is a town next to a mountain. The town is small and the people who live there enjoy the small-town life. When they walk around the town, they see other people they know. They like to stop and say hello. Almost everyone knows each other in a small town. One morning, people are busy as usual. Some people are going to work. Some people are shopping in the market. Suddenly, they hear a loud noise. Boom! The people stop what they are doing. They stop going to work. They stop shopping. They turn to each other and say, “Did you hear that loud noise? What was that?” They hear the noise again. Boom! The people walk outside. They walk out of the businesses. They walk out of the stores. They stand on the street and look around. They hear the noise again. Boom! The loud noise is coming from the mountain! The people in the town talk about what to do. They decide to send a group of people to the mountain to check what could make this noise. Many people want to go with the group. They want to know what causes the loud noise. The group goes quickly to the mountain. They hear the noise again. Boom! It’s so loud. They are close to the mountain now. They hear the loud noise again. Boom! They jump up because the noise is so loud. Then they see a shadow. Something is coming out of the mountain. They look closer. The shadow is big. But they see only a small mouse. The small mouse runs out of the mountain. Then the mountain is quiet. The people don’t hear the loud noise again. The people laugh. They are so relieved. It’s only a small mouse. The end.

In this story, the people stop what they are doing. They stop working and shopping. They go to find out what is causing the loud noise. But it’s only a mouse. It’s much ado about nothing.
