Once there was a farmer. His farm was on the very top of a tall hill. One night, all of the grass on the hill was eaten up. So the animals didn't have grass to eat. The next year, it happened again. One night, all of the grass on the hill was eaten up. The farmer was very unhappy. So the farmer asked his oldest son to watch the hill.
The oldest son went up to the top of the hill. At night, he went to sleep. But then he woke up because there was a very big earthquake. The whole hill was shaking. So he was very afraid, and he ran home. In the morning, the farmer saw that all of the grass was eaten up. So the animals didn't have grass to eat.
The next year, the farmer asked the middle son to go and watch the hill. But the same thing happened. The son fell asleep. Then there was a big earthquake, and the son was very afraid. So he ran home. The next morning, the farmer saw that all of the grass was eaten up.
The next year, it was the youngest son’s turn to watch the hill. His name was Ash. The older brothers laughed and said Ash would be very afraid. But Ash believed in himself. So he went up on the hill. At night, there was an earthquake. The hill was shaking. Ash was not afraid.
Ash waited until the earthquake stopped. Then he heard a sound. It was a sound like a horse eating grass. He looked and saw the biggest horse he had ever seen. The horse was eating the grass. Ash led the horse to the woods. Then he tied the horse to a tree. Ash went home. The next morning, the grass was still on the hill. Ash's father was so happy the grass was not eaten up.
So the next year, Ash's father asked Ash to watch the hill again. There was a big earthquake, then Ash saw another big horse. This horse was even more beautiful than the last one. He took the horse to the woods and tied it to a tree. Ash’s father was so happy the grass wasn’t eaten up. The animals had lots of grass to eat all summer.
Then the next year, the same happened again. Ash went to the hill, and he saw an even bigger horse. He tied up the horse in the woods. And the grass wasn’t eaten up, so the animals had food to eat. Ash's father was very happy.
The King of this country had a daughter. She was very smart and lovely. The King and Princess set up a contest to find a brave Prince for the Princess. The Princess sat on the top of a tall hill. The hill was made of glass. The glass hill was very slippery, just like ice. The Princess sat on the top of the hill with three golden apples in her hands. Whoever could ride up the hill of glass to the Princess, and take the golden apples away, could have the chance to marry the Princess and become the Prince.
