Friends in the Forest

Two friends are going to the forest. They want to look for fruit. It’s summertime, and it’s a beautiful day. Summertime is the best time to look for fruit. The friends go from tree to tree. They look under the trees. They look in the bushes. They look on the ground. They do not find any fruit. The friends are angry. One friend says, “Where is the fruit?” The other friend says, “The forest does not have any fruit! I don’t like to be in the forest!” One friend says, “Let’s go to the field. Maybe the field has fruit.” They go to the field. The sun is high in the sky. There are no clouds in the sky. The friends look in the grass. They look in the bushes. They look on the ground. They do not find any fruit in the field. The friends are tired. They feel very hot. One friend says, “I’m so hot. Can we go back to the forest?” The second friend says, “Yes, let’s go!” The friends return to the forest. The air is cool under the trees. They do not feel hot anymore. They take a nap under the trees. They do not find fruit. But they are happy to be cool in the forest. The end.

At the end of this story, the friends see the forest with new eyes. They see what they did not see before, because there’s more than what they’re looking for.
